Products
The product catalogue's read-only reference library and the admin editor for pricing, options, VAT treatment and availability.
Workflow group: Reference (browse) + Company config (manage) · Sidebar: Products, and Manage products Who sees this: Browsing is open to every adviser; managing (pricing/settings) is Admin only.
The product catalogue has two faces: a read-only reference library every adviser browses to understand each product before quoting, and an admin editor where prices, options, VAT treatment, and on/off state are configured for the firm. Products are placed on a quote during the order flow and priced on the order (/orders/[id]) - never from these pages.
Products (catalogue reference) - /products
- Intent: A read-only reference library where any adviser can learn how each product in the firm's catalogue works before recommending or quoting it. It mirrors the way products are combined on a quote (will bases at the top, then the trusts and additions that bolt onto them, then LPAs).
- Who can access it: Every signed-in user at the active company (all roles). No admin rights needed. This is browse-only; nothing here changes pricing or availability.
- What you can do:
- Switch the catalogue (jurisdiction) using the switcher in the top-right to show products for the region the firm is entitled to (defaults to England & Wales; Northern Ireland appears if the firm has it). The list re-scopes to only the products belonging to the chosen catalogue.
- Browse products grouped into four sections: Will bases, Trusts, Additions, and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
- On each will-base card, read the description and see, listed underneath, the trusts and additions that can be added under that will on the quote builder (each shown as a clickable chip).
- On each trust/addition card, see an "Available with" row of chips linking to the will bases it pairs with.
- Click any product name (or chip) to open its detail page.
- Open a product's customer-facing datasheet PDF (opens in a new tab) when one is configured.
- Open the product's InLeef Academy training article (new tab) when a link is configured.
- Spot products marked with an "Inactive" badge (turned off for ordering by an admin) while still reading their reference info.
- What you see: A page header "Products" with a subtitle about opening datasheets/Academy articles and the catalogue switcher; then up to four titled sections, each with a short explanatory subtitle and a grid of cards. Will-base and LPA cards are wider (two-up); trust and addition cards are smaller (up to three-up). Each card shows the product name, a type badge (Will base / Trust / Addition / LPA), a truncated description, cross-link chips, and datasheet/Academy buttons.
- States:
- Loading: a grid of placeholder skeleton cards.
- Empty / error: a single "No products available yet at this company" panel (same panel covers both a load failure and a genuinely empty catalogue).
- A section only appears if it has at least one product; datasheet/Academy buttons only appear when that product has a URL configured.
- Related pages / flow: Reached from the main navigation. Each card/name links to Product detail (
/products/[id]). This page does not add products to an order; products are placed on a quote during the order/fact-find flow and priced on the order (/orders/[id]).
Product detail (reference) - /products/[id]
- Intent: The full reference sheet for one product: what it is, the documents the client receives, an optional explainer video, and prominent links to the datasheet and Academy article. Used to brief yourself (or a client) on a single product.
- Who can access it: Every signed-in user at the active company can view it. Admins additionally see a "Manage this product" button that jumps to the admin editor.
- What you can do:
- Read the full product description (preserves paragraph breaks).
- Watch the embedded explainer video when one is configured.
- Read the "Documents included" list, each entry naming a document and explaining what the client gets it for.
- Open the datasheet PDF (new tab) when configured.
- Open the InLeef Academy article (new tab) when configured; otherwise a "No Academy link configured yet" note shows.
- Go back to the catalogue via "Back to products".
- (Admins only) Click "Manage this product" to open the admin editor for pricing/settings.
- What you see: A back link, then a header with the product name, a type badge, its category, and an "Inactive" badge if disabled. Below: an "About this product" card (description + optional video), a "Documents included" card (only if the product produces documents), and a two-up row of a "Datasheet" card and an "InLeef Academy" card.
- States:
- Loading: title and a large content skeleton.
- Error / not found: a short "No products available yet at this company" message in red.
- The Documents card and video are hidden when absent; the Academy card always shows but displays a "not configured" note when no link exists; the "Manage this product" button only shows for admins.
- Related pages / flow: Arrived at from Products (
/products). Goes back to/products, and (admins) forward to Manage product detail (/products/manage/[id]).
Manage products (admin) - /products/manage
- Intent: The admin-only control panel listing every product so an admin can review each product's pricing economics and open one to edit its price, options, VAT treatment, and on/off state for the firm. This is configuration, not browsing.
- Who can access it: Admins at the active company only. A non-admin who opens this URL is automatically redirected to the reference catalogue at
/products; if the redirect can't run they see an "Admin access required" alert. If no active company is set, an alert prompts accordingly. - What you can do:
- Switch between the Active and Inactive tabs to list products that are currently orderable vs turned off. Each tab keeps its own page/sort independently.
- Switch catalogue (jurisdiction) with the top-right switcher to scope the table to that catalogue's products.
- Sort the table by name, price, RRP, supplier cost, or active status.
- Page through results (25 per page).
- Review each product's economics at a glance: sale price, recommended retail price (RRP), supplier cost, and computed revenue (shown in red when negative), plus whether it is VAT exempt and its active status.
- Click a row (or the "View" action on the row) to open that product's editor.
- What you see: Header "Product management" with subtitle "Edit pricing, supplier cost, and content links. Revenue and profit are computed live." and the catalogue switcher; an Active/Inactive tab bar; and a table with columns: Name (with product type beneath), Category, Price, RRP, Supplier cost, Revenue, VAT exempt (Yes / -), and Active (green "Active" / grey "Inactive" badge), plus a "View" action per row.
- States:
- Non-admin: redirect to
/products(fallback: destructive "Admin access required" alert). - No active company: informational alert.
- Empty table: "No products created yet."
- Standard table loading/error handling within each tab.
- Non-admin: redirect to
- Related pages / flow: Reached from navigation (admins) or the "Manage this product" button on a product detail page. Each row opens Manage product detail (
/products/manage/[id]).
Manage product detail (admin editor) - /products/manage/[id]
- Intent: The admin editor for a single product: set the price(s) advisers pay, add/edit/remove selectable price options, and control the product's active and VAT-exempt settings. Catalogue content (name, description, documents, datasheet, video) is read-only here.
- Who can access it: Admins at the active company only. Non-admins are redirected to
/products(fallback: "Admin access required" alert). - What you can do:
- Edit the base price (the default price advisers pay unless they pick an option) via a modal, entering the amount in pounds.
- Add a selectable price option via a modal: give it an adviser-only label (e.g. "Standard", "Charity rate"), set the amount in pounds, and optionally mark it as the product's default.
- Edit any existing price option (label, amount, default flag) via a modal.
- Delete a price option, with a confirmation dialog warning it will no longer be selectable on new quotes (existing quotes keep their price).
- See, for the base price and every option, a live breakdown: sale price, the application fee deduction (shown as a percentage), supplier cost (if any), and the resulting Revenue and Profit (profit shown in red if negative) - computed with the same formula the server charges.
- Toggle the product Active (orderable) on/off and toggle VAT exempt, then press "Save changes"; a success/failure toast confirms and the management list refreshes to reflect the new state.
- Open the datasheet PDF and the InLeef Academy article (new tabs) from the read-only catalogue card.
- Navigate back via "Back to product management" or jump to the public reference detail via "Back to products".
- What you see: A back link, a header with the product name plus its category and product-type label, and a link to the reference detail. Below, a two-column layout: the wider left column is the "Prices" list (base-price card first - badged "Default" if no option is the default - then a card per option, each with an "Add price" button at the top and edit/delete icons per card); the narrower right column stacks a "Product settings" card (Active switch, VAT-exempt checkbox, Save changes), a read-only "Catalogue" card (name, description, datasheet/Academy buttons), and a "Documents included" list. Note: RRP, sort position, and the Academy URL are seeded defaults and are not editable on this screen.
- States:
- Non-admin: redirect (fallback destructive alert).
- Loading: header + two-column skeletons.
- Error / not found: short red "No products available yet at this company" message.
- "No selectable options yet" hint when a product has only its base price.
- Delete button shows a pending state while removing; toasts report add/edit/delete/settings success or failure.
- Related pages / flow: Arrived at from Manage products (
