Getting started: the dashboard & navigation
Find your way around the InLeef adviser app - the dashboard widgets, sidebar, notifications and company switcher.
The first screen after you log in. This guide gets you comfortable with the home dashboard, the sidebar, notifications, and switching companies.
Where you land: /dashboard - the header greets you with "Welcome, {your first name}".
Find your way around the sidebar (left)
The sidebar is grouped by the client journey. Click any item to open that page.
- Overview
- Dashboard - this home screen.
- Setup - the onboarding wizard (only shown until your company setup is complete → see Guide 2).
- Pipeline
- Leads - your triage inbox of new enquiries.
- Users - your clients.
- Orders - estate-planning orders in progress.
- Lead generation
- Will Bank - bulk CSV import (🔒 Manager/Admin only).
- Join links - shareable sign-up links + QR codes.
- Reference
- Products - the product wiki (datasheets and how each product works).
- Company config (most of these are 🔒 Manager/Admin only)
- Advisers, Teams, Billing, Message templates, Professional trustees, Fact-find templates, Company settings, Product management.
🔒 If you're a plain Adviser (not Manager/Admin) at the active company, the elevated items simply don't appear. Switching to a company where you are a Manager reveals them.
Read and customise the dashboard
The dashboard is a grid of widgets you can rearrange. By default you'll see:
- Pipeline - a strip counting clients at each stage (New leads → Draft → Awaiting sign-off & ID checks → Changes requested → In drafting → Needs signatures → Completed). Click any stage to jump to a filtered list. "All orders" (top-right of the widget) opens
/orders. - Action queue - clickable stat cards: "Triage awaiting", "Orders to complete", "Fact-finds stale", and (Managers/Admins) "Invoices outstanding".
- Recent intakes - your latest leads ("View all" → Leads).
- Recent orders - your latest orders ("View all" → Orders).
- Join links - invite/click/sign-up counts ("Manage links" → Join links).
- Billing summary - 🔒 Managers/Admins only; shows gross/net volume and outstanding, or a Stripe setup prompt if Connect isn't finished.
To rearrange the dashboard
- Click "Customise" (top-right).
- Each widget now shows a dashed frame. You can:
- Drag it by the handle to reorder.
- Use the Width stepper (– / +) to size it ¼, ½, ¾ or "Full".
- Flip the "Tall" switch on widgets that support it.
- Click the ✕ to remove it (a toast lets you "Undo").
- Click "Add widget" to bring back hidden ones (e.g. Clients, Quick actions, Revenue trend).
- Click "Reset layout" to restore defaults (confirm in the "Reset dashboard layout?" dialog).
- Click "Done" when finished. Your layout is remembered in this browser.
Check your notifications
- Click the bell icon in the top header (a red badge shows the unread count, capped at "9+").
- The popover lists recent notifications. Click a row to mark it read and jump straight to the item.
- Click "Mark all as read" to clear the badge.
Notifications arrive live (with a polling fallback), so you don't need to refresh.
Switch between companies
If you belong to more than one firm, the company switcher sits at the very top of the sidebar (shows the active company name + your role).
- Click it to open the "Switch company" dropdown.
- Pick a company. A check mark shows the active one.
- The whole app re-scopes instantly - leads, clients, orders and billing all reload for that company.
If you belong to a single company, this shows as a plain label with no dropdown.
Log out
- Click your name/avatar at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Choose "Log out" (or "Profile" / "Company profile").
- Confirm in the "Log out?" dialog.
Next: if you see a Setup item in the sidebar, your company isn't fully set up yet → Guide 2: Complete your company setup.
